On the 15th of March 2025, football enthusiasts gathered at Tudor Grange Academy, Cooks Lane, Birmingham, to witness a captivating league fixture between Armada FC and Arden Forest FC. The match unfolded under overcast skies, with temperatures hovering around 4°C, creating a crisp and invigorating atmosphere for the players and spectators alike. The encounter was officiated by referee Ryan Hoey.

POST MATCH STATEMENTS
Manager's Statement
"Today's match showcased our team's resilience and attacking prowess. We created numerous opportunities and maintained pressure throughout the game. However, defensive lapses at critical moments cost us dearly. Moving forward, we must focus on tightening our defensive structure while maintaining our offensive momentum. Kudos to our defence for their relentless efforts, our goal scorers for their clinical finishing, and a special mention to our star player, Pardale, whose performance was inspiring."

Captain's Statement
"I'm immensely proud of the team's effort today. We fought hard and showcased our quality on the ball, but unfortunately, we fell just short. The spirit and determination from the squad were evident, and we will take the positives into our next fixture. The key lesson is to remain switched on in crucial defensive moments and make our chances count. Huge credit to our goal scorers, Francis and Kosisochukwu, for their composure in front of goal. We regroup, refocus, and go again!"

Star Player & Goal Scorers – Recognition & Praise
Star Player – Lambros Pardale
Pardale was at the heart of Armada FC’s attacking play, leading the line with passion and determination. His work rate, vision, and ability to create chances were outstanding. A true leader on the pitch, he inspired those around him with his commitment to the game. Well played, Lambros – a performance to be proud of!

Goal Scorers
R Francis – A brilliant finish in the 26th minute, showcasing his knack for being in the right place at the right time. Francis's energy and creativity were instrumental in keeping Armada FC on the front foot.

Kosisochukwu – A late goal that gave Armada FC hope in the dying moments of the match. His determination and ability to find the net under pressure were commendable. Keep going, Kosisochukwu – more goals to come!

Referee’s Performance
Referee Ryan Hoey attempted to manage a fiercely competitive match but ultimately failed to provide the level of protection required for the players’ safety. The biggest concern was his inability to control dangerous play, which put both sets of players at risk. While refereeing is a challenging job, especially in a physical game, his inconsistent decision-making left both teams frustrated and confused.

Soft fouls were penalised, while blatant fouls with intent to harm were ignored. Throughout the match, attempts were made to engage the referee in discussion regarding these concerns, but he remained unresponsive. Even the opposition captain expressed similar concerns, yet no adjustments were made in his officiating.

A particularly alarming example occurred when an Armada FC player committed a foul on an Arden Forest centre-back. In response, the opposition player openly stated his intention to retaliate with a dangerous challenge in the next phase of play and supporters were also agreeing to get involved. This was said within earshot of the referee, who had full awareness of what was about to happen. When the opposition player followed through with his threat in the subsequent phase, the referee failed to act. Not only was there no booking, but a free kick wasn’t even awarded. The severity of the tackle could have resulted in a serious injury—potentially ending a player’s season had his foot been planted in the ground.

With the referee unwilling to intervene, the match spiralled out of control, increasing the risk of injury and fostering an unsafe playing environment. Armada FC will be reviewing the footage as evidence of the poor officiating. Given this performance, the club strongly feels that Ryan Hoey should not be considered for future fixtures unless there is a significant improvement in his ability to protect players and maintain order.
